Introduction

TraceLeaf (“TraceLeaf”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is a personal five-year diary application designed to help you record one line about your life each day.

We believe your memories should remain yours. TraceLeaf is designed as a local-first application: your diary entries are stored on your device by default, and TraceLeaf does not operate a server that stores your diary entries for everyday writing and reading.

This Privacy Policy explains what information TraceLeaf handles, where that information is stored, and what happens when you choose to use optional services such as purchases or cloud backup.

Privacy at a Glance

Information Stored on Your Device

TraceLeaf stores information locally on your device to provide the app’s functionality.

This may include:

Your diary entries are not routinely transmitted to or stored on TraceLeaf’s own servers.

If you uninstall TraceLeaf or clear its application data, information stored only on your device may be removed. You should export or back up information you wish to preserve before uninstalling the app or clearing its storage.

Diary Information We Do Not Collect

TraceLeaf does not send your diary entries to our own servers for:

We do not operate a server containing your everyday diary entries.

If you voluntarily send diary content to us, for example by including it in an email to our support address, that information may be received and processed as part of providing support.

Device Permissions

TraceLeaf may request certain device permissions depending on the features you choose to use.

Notifications

TraceLeaf may request notification permission so that you can schedule daily writing reminders.

Notifications are optional and can be disabled through your device settings.

Biometrics and Device Passcode

If you enable the app lock, TraceLeaf may use your device’s supported biometric authentication or device passcode authentication to unlock the application.

TraceLeaf does not receive or store your fingerprint, face scan, biometric template, or device passcode.

Authentication is handled by the operating system and supported device security mechanisms.

Purchases and RevenueCat

TraceLeaf offers optional one-time purchases for individual five-year diary volumes.

Purchases are processed through the applicable app store:

TraceLeaf does not receive or store your payment card number, bank account information, or other payment credentials used by the app store.

TraceLeaf uses RevenueCat to help validate purchases, maintain purchase entitlements, and support the Restore Purchases functionality.

Depending on the platform and configuration, RevenueCat may receive information such as:

RevenueCat processes this information to provide its purchase management and transaction validation services.

Your diary entries are not sent to RevenueCat as part of normal purchase or restore operations.

RevenueCat’s handling of information is also subject to its own privacy policy:

https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy/

One-Time Purchases and Refunds

Each five-year volume is sold as a separate one-time purchase. Purchasing one volume does not automatically purchase, renew, or charge you for a future volume.

There are no recurring subscriptions for five-year volumes.

Purchases are generally final once completed. TraceLeaf does not promise refunds except where a refund is required by applicable law or provided through the applicable app store’s refund process.

For purchases made through Google Play, refund requests may be submitted through Google Play’s refund process. For purchases made through Apple, refund requests are handled through Apple’s applicable refund process.

If you experience a problem where a purchase was completed but the purchased volume was not unlocked, you may contact us at:

traceleafofficial@gmail.com

We will assist with purchase and access issues where we can.

Optional Cloud Backup

Cloud backup is an optional feature. TraceLeaf does not require you to enable cloud backup to write and read your diary on your device.

If you choose to enable cloud backup, your backup is encrypted on your device before it is uploaded to the cloud service you select.

TraceLeaf does not operate its own server for storing your diary backups.

Google Drive

When Google Drive backup is enabled:

Google’s handling of your Google account and Google Drive information is governed by Google’s policies:

https://policies.google.com/privacy

You can disconnect Google Drive backup through TraceLeaf where supported. You can also manage your Google account’s access to TraceLeaf through your Google account settings.

Existing Google Drive app data or backup data may need to be managed or removed through Google’s own account and storage controls. TraceLeaf does not represent that it can directly delete data stored in Google’s systems.

iCloud

If iCloud backup is enabled in your version of TraceLeaf:

Apple’s handling of iCloud and Apple account information is governed by Apple’s policies:

https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/

Cloud Backup Security

TraceLeaf is designed so that encryption occurs on your device before a backup is uploaded.

However, no method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Once a backup has been uploaded to Google Drive or iCloud, the relevant third party’s infrastructure, security practices, and privacy policies also apply.

PDF Export

TraceLeaf allows you to export a kept or purchased diary volume as a PDF.

PDF export is not included as part of the trial. A volume must be kept or purchased before its diary can be exported as a PDF.

The exported PDF is created on your device and may be saved or shared using your device’s available file and sharing features.

TraceLeaf does not receive the exported PDF unless you voluntarily send it to us, such as by attaching it to a support email.

App Store and Google Play Reviews

TraceLeaf may use the native review functionality provided by Apple or Google to ask whether you would like to review the app.

Any review you submit is handled by the applicable app store.

TraceLeaf does not receive the private contents of a review prompt response beyond information made available to us by the applicable store.

Support Communications

If you contact TraceLeaf by email, we may receive:

We use this information to respond to your request, provide customer support, troubleshoot problems, and improve the reliability of TraceLeaf.

We do not sell support correspondence or use it for advertising.

Children’s Privacy

TraceLeaf is not directed toward children under the applicable minimum age in the jurisdictions where the app is offered.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through our own services.

If you believe that a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us at:

Data Retention and Deletion

On-device information

Information stored locally by TraceLeaf remains on your device until you remove the relevant local data, clear the app’s storage, uninstall the application, or otherwise remove the data from your device.

TraceLeaf does not provide an account-based server where your everyday diary entries are stored and from which we can remotely delete your diary.

Cloud backups

Cloud backups remain in your Google Drive or iCloud account until you delete them or otherwise remove them according to the relevant cloud service’s functionality.

Disconnecting or revoking TraceLeaf’s access to a cloud service does not necessarily delete existing backup data stored by that provider. You may need to use the relevant provider’s account or storage controls to manage or delete existing backup data.

Purchase information

Purchase and transaction records may be maintained by Google, Apple, and RevenueCat according to their respective policies and applicable retention requirements.

TraceLeaf does not control the retention or deletion of records maintained by these third parties.

Support communications

If you contact us for support, we may retain the correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your request, maintain support records, resolve disputes, or comply with legal obligations.

We do not maintain a separate server-side copy of your everyday diary entries.

Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights regarding personal information handled by us or by the third parties that provide services to you.

Because TraceLeaf is designed to store diary content locally:

For privacy-related questions or requests concerning information that TraceLeaf directly handles, contact:

traceleafofficial@gmail.com

If your request concerns information held by Google, Apple, RevenueCat, or another third-party provider, you may also need to contact that provider or use its account, privacy, or data-management controls.

International Users

TraceLeaf may be used by people in different countries.

Your diary information is primarily stored locally on your device. If you use optional services such as Google Drive, iCloud, Google Play, Apple App Store, or RevenueCat, information associated with those services may be processed by those providers in the countries and regions where they operate.

Those third parties maintain their own privacy and data-processing practices.

Security

TraceLeaf is designed around a local-first approach so that your diary does not need to be stored on TraceLeaf’s own servers for normal use.

Where cloud backup is supported, TraceLeaf is designed to encrypt the backup on your device before it is uploaded.

We take reasonable measures to protect information handled by TraceLeaf. However, no electronic storage or transmission method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

When we make changes, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this policy. Where appropriate, we may also provide additional notice within the app.

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to understand how TraceLeaf handles information.
